Microdermabrasion in Cleveland, Ohio
Microdermabrasion is an exfoliating treatment. Exfoliating the skin simply means removing the outermost, or superficial, layer of skin cells. As new skins cells form, old skin cells are shed from the superficial layer. This natural cycle is gradual and occurs on a microscopic level. During this cycle, the skin accumulates a build-up of dehydrated, dead and flaky material causing the skin to appear dry and dull. It also makes the skin appear unhealthy. Microdermabrasion and dermaplaning remove this build-up of unhealthy material. By removing this build-up, microdermabrasion reveals the underlying healthy skin which improves skin tone and texture. The skin will appear younger, healthier and more radiant.
How Microdermabrasion Works
There are two common methods of performing microdermabrasion.
The first, and most common, method is uses a machine that delivers a gentle stream of small particles or crystals across the surface of the skin while at the same time applying some degree of suction. The particles collide with the skin’s surface and loosen the microscopic dead skin cells, proteins, dirt and debris. The suction removes the debris as well as the microscopic crystals.
The second, more effective, method of microdermabrasion is to use a hand-piece that applies suction to the skin’s surface while a gentle diamond-coated surface is lightly moved across the skin. The diamond-coated surface mechanically removes the skin’s dirt and debris while the suction clears it away. The end result of both treatments is smoother, healthier and radiant skin.
