Yes. Dr. Harmych personally performs all lip injection and lip augmentation procedures. While nurse practitioners or other healthcare providers may perform lip filler injections at other plastic surgery offices or medical spas, Dr. Harmych believes that these injections should be performed by the surgeon.
How is Lip Filler Performed?
Lip injection, or lip enhancement, is performed at Dr. Harmych’s office after the lips are anesthetized (numbed) with a topical cream. A hyaluronic acid filler is gently injected into the lips either a cannula or small needle.
What medications should I avoid prior to having my lips injected?
Aspirin, NSAID’s (such as ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, naproxen) and other medications known to cause bruising are avoided for one week prior to lip injection. Herbal supplements, such as garlic, ginseng, gingko biloba, vitamin E, fish oil and omega-3 fatty acids may also increase bruising and should be avoided for one week prior to lip injection.
While I be comfortable during the Lip Injection Procedure?
Yes. Minimal discomfort is experienced during and after lip filler and lip injection treatments. Dr. Harmych and his office staff are very professional and caring and will make you feel very comfortable during and after lip injection.
What Should I Expect After Lip Injections?
Almost all patients have some amount of swelling that resolved in 24-48 hours. Lipstick and lip gloss may be used on the lips immediately after lip injection. Most patients return to their normal activity on the same day. You should avoid eating and drinking until lip numbness resolves – generally within two hours. Applying ice or cooling packs is neither necessary nor recommended. Any discomfort following lip injection may be treated with Tylenol.
