Who is a Candidate for Laser Skin Resurfacing?
Laser skin resurfacing is not suitable for all patients. Patients who have been treated with Accutane (Isotretinoin) within the past 6-12 months or have a history of wound healing problems such as keloids are not good candidates. Risks may include change of pigmentation, infection, redness or textural changes.
Dr. Harmych will discuss all risks and benefits with you during your laser skin resurfacing consultation.
How is Laser Skin Resurfacing Performed?
Laser skin resurfacing is usually performed in the office with topical and local anesthesia. It can be combined with surgical procedures done in the operating room such as neck lift, facelift, rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty, and eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). The procedure is performed by Dr. Harmych and takes 1 hour. Patients are made comfortable and most patients experience very little discomfort. After the treatment, a layer of ointment is applied to the face.
Who Performs the Laser Skin Resurfacing?
All laser treatments are performed by Dr. Harmych.
What is the Recovery like for Laser Skin Resurfacing?
Laser Skin Resurfacing is performed on an outpatient basis. Prescription pain medication is not required. Patients should expect between 3-7 days of downtime. There are minimal activity restrictions for one week following the laser treatment.
