Who is a Candidate for Laser Treatment Surgery?
Laser treatments are not suitable for all patients. Patients who have been treated with Accutane (Isotretinoin) within the past 6-12 months or have a history of wound healing problems such as keloids are not good candidates. Risks may include change of pigmentation, infection, redness or textural changes.
Dr. Harmych will discuss all risks and benefits with you during your laser treatment consultation.
How is Laser Treatment Performed?
Laser treatment is usually performed in the office with topical/local anesthesia. It can be combined with surgical procedures done in the operating room such as neck lift, facelift, and eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). The procedure is performed by Dr. Harmych and takes less than 1 hour. Patients are made comfortable and most patients experience very little discomfort. After the treatment, a layer of soothing ointment is applied to the treatment area.
Who Performs the Laser Treatment?
All laser treatments are performed by Dr. Harmych and not delegated to other staff.
What is the Recovery like for Laser Treatment?
The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and patients return to the comfort of their own home. Prescription pain medication is not required. Depending on treatment parameters, patients should expect between 3-7 days of social downtime. There are minimal activity restrictions for one week following the laser treatment. It is expected that most patients will experience a mild burning sensation (similar to a sunburn) for the first 24-48 hours as well as redness and itching. Dr. Harmych will see patients for a post-procedure check-up in one week.
