Dermal Fillers in Cleveland, Ohio
As our skin ages, it becomes thinner, less hydrated and loses elasticity which leads to the formation of fine lines, wrinkles and deeper skin folds. Facial skin may also appear dehydrated and take on a crepe paper-like appearance. Many of these unwanted changes can be attributed to the gradual loss of collagen and hyaluronic acid which are the major supporting and hydrating substances found naturally within the skin.
As a result of this process we often see the appearance of smile lines, parentheses, vertical lip lines or lipstick lines, marionette lines, tear troughs, and deepened nasolabial folds. Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero, Restylane Silk, Juvederm Voluma and hydroxyapatite fillers such as Radiesse are naturally occurring substances that can be used to plump the skin, smoothing out lines and folds, giving the face a more youthful, refreshed and energetic appearance.

Who is a Candidate for Dermal Filler Injection in Cleveland?
Healthy patients who desire to minimize fine lines, wrinkles and deep facial folds and obtain a well-defined and youthful facial contour without the risks of surgery may be excellent candidates for non-surgical dermal fillers.
How is injection of Dermal Fillers Performed?
Dermal fillers are performed by the doctor in our comfortable and private office. Occasionally topical numbing medication is applied prior to filler injection. The filler gel is gently injected into the treated areas with a very small needle. Minimal, if any, discomfort or pain is experienced.
Does the Surgeon Perform the Filler Treatments?
Yes. Dr. Harmych, our fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon, personally performs all dermal filler injections.
What is the Recovery like after dermal filler injection in Cleveland, Ohio?
Most patients report minimal discomfort or pain afterward but may take Tylenol if needed. Aspirin, NSAID’s and other medications known to cause bleeding and bruising are discouraged for one week prior and one week following the procedure. If present, mild swelling and bruising may last several days and can be treated with cold compresses. Makeup and other cosmetic products may be used immediately to conceal any redness or minor bruising. Most patients return to their work and social activities on the same day.
What kind of results should I expect?
Results are immediately visible and last from several months to several years depending on the specific dermal filler used and area treated. The skin is a highly metabolically active organ that continuously breaks down, reorganizes and rebuilds the network of proteins that holds skin cells together. Hyaluronic acid and hydroxyapatite are metabolized by this turnover process because they are naturally occurring substances found within the body. Dr. Harmych, a fellowship trained facial plastic surgeon, has extensive experience with soft tissue fillers and can help choose the appropriate filler for you during a consultation.
