Microcannulas for Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Dermal Fillers in Cleveland, OH
Non-surgical hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler injections, such as Juvederm Voluma®, Restylane® and Restylane Silk® are steadily increasing in popularity. The demand in Cleveland for such procedures has increased significantly due to the nonsurgical nature of these injectable filler treatments as well.
This is why in the past several years we have seen the introduction of two of the most revolutionary injectable hyaluronic acid filler treatments, Juvederm Voluma® and Restylane Silk®. Both of these treatments have filled a unique niche in the non-surgical facial cosmetic treatment market.
Juvederm Voluma® is the only hyaluronic acid filler FDA-approved for treatment of the midface and, unlike other hyaluronic acid fillers, the results can last up to two years.
Restylane Silk® has now become the dermal filler of choice for treating volume deficiency and wrinkles of the perioral area.
Injectable dermal fillers have long been injected following standard injection techniques by using a hollow needle. However, as the innovations in dermal filler materials have evolved so have the mechanisms that expert dermal filler injectors use. Many surgeons are now using cannulas (or microcannulas) to for injection of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers.
Microcannulas offer several advantages over standard injection technique using needles. Microcannulas have blunt tips that gently and atraumatically move through the skin and subcutaneous tissues. When used correctly, these cannulas have very thin walls and a blunt tip that allow for improved cosmetic results, less bruising, less down time and less pain.
When compared to the standard needles traditionally used for injection of dermal fillers, microcannulas have a much thinner wall. This increases the inner diameter of the cannula and reduces the resistance upon injection into the dermis, leading to more precise filler injection. This means that the injection for patients getting fillers is much more targeted and the results are seen exactly where they should be seen.
Microcannulas may be used to inject any filler material and are commonly used for the injection of hydroxyapatite fillers, such as Radiesse®, and hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm®, Juvederm Voluma®, Restylane®, Restylane Silk®, Perlane® and Belotero®.
Dr. Harmych uses microcannulas for all of these types of treatments to ensure that patients receive the most precise and targeted results. Schedule a free consultation and learn more about fillers and injectables from our board-certified and fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon.
